Meet The Team
We are incredibly proud of the team we have built here at StyleTech, click below and get to know us a little better.
Home automation, the rise of smart assistants have brought about some exciting and in some cases, bizarre possibilities. Once the work of science fiction, now in reach of many at an affordable price. This can prove to be revolutionary for people with difficulties getting around the house or just fun for those who are fanatical about technology.
Now if you don’t mind, I’m going to sit back and watch a film.
“Alexa, play Back to the Future in the bedroom”...“OK, playing the backstreet boys in the bathroom”, well I never said it was perfect.
VOIP, has revolutionised the telephone market, and no longer do we have an inflexible telephone exchange, we now have a digital system that can be configured to our exact needs which removes all of the previous limitations, it has opened up the communication possibilities.
Bluetooth, especially when used to connect a mobile device wirelessly to speakers or headphones. I love listening to the radio, audio books, podcasts, and music and the range, availability, and quality of these has increased massively over recent years. Using wireless speakers and headphones was a revelation to me and makes listening more convenient and enjoyable whether at home, in the garden, or out and about.
Paid streaming services, pick and choose when and what to watch or listen to without interruptions.
The internet, who knew you would be able to find anything out at the touch of the button from your mobile phone - useful and useless information.
Artificial Intelligence, as I find AI fascinating, it can be used to expand our knowledge and find new answers to complex problems. It’s a powerful tool that can really, influence the world and help accelerate science.
AI has also made waves with mastering complex games, an AI created by Deepmind and named AlphaGo made history by mastering the most challenging classical game ‘Go’, which is a major feat as it’s a profoundly complex game, with 10 to the power of 170 possible board moves.
The program used reinforcement learning to become better at decision-making and eventually went on to defeat Go world champions, arguably becoming the greatest Go player of all time.
Hardware emulation, whether its emulating a smartphone to aid development, replaying games I loved as a child, or making music with synthesizers from the 80s, emulation is not only fun and convenient, but it's an essential part of preserving decades of tech history. Most importantly, I can prove to my daughter that pixelated graphics is not just an art style that was invented with Minecraft.
Smartphone, as a father, I find life can become quite hectic at times. Having applications to help manage my busy schedule in the palm of my hand proves to be an invaluable asset.
Build pipelines, as they have completely removed the pain points that we previously experienced when publishing a system. Build pipelines ensure the system must pass the automated tests and all configuration parameters will be correctly applied based on the target environment.
Azure, as it provides a fantastic set of services and tools which any developer should be versed in. It has taken a lot of the headaches out of traditional hosting and makes the integration of complex features such as AI & Machine Learning very accessible to any developer.
GPS, nowadays, we heavily rely on technology such as GPS. It is a fantastic piece of tech as it can help to make everyday tasks a little bit easier and can eliminate the stress of not finding your destination. Everything is well until you hear the dreaded "turn around where possible" on repeat!
Spacecraft Software, from the days of the Lunar landings, to today, computers are a crucial part in spacecraft operations. They have to run in the harsh environment of space and on the surface of other moons and planets. Space exploration is a great tool to inspire humanity and make life better down here on earth. It would not be possible without dedicated software technologies.
Visual Studio, as it enables developers to work on multiple types of projects from cloud, web, mobile and desktop, making it essential. It can be easily extended with 3rd party plugins and tools to improve productivity further.
Virtualization, as it allows me to set up a whole network of servers on my laptop in minutes when it used to need rooms full of hardware and weeks of planning. It's opened up so many possibilities.
C# and .Net Core, as it allows us to develop robust and sophisticated cloud, web, mobile and desktop applications that can run across a multitude of different operating systems, which makes this immensely powerful in providing a reliable and flexible solution to our clients.
The keyboard, found on almost every desk and in every pocket. Often overlooked it's one of the most widely used input devices, you could say it was the main contribution to building technology itself. That is until auto-collect comes along.
Computer Graphics, as the advances have really, enriched so many fields. From keeping me happy, with all the stunning games we have now, to enabling the representation of complex scientific concepts and even VR training - still got to love Pacman though!
Cloud storage, the ability to have important files on any device at any time is extremely useful, combined with the ability to collaborate in real-time on the same file makes working with others a breeze.
Microsoft Teams, as being a Project Leader communication with the rest of the team is an essential part of the job, whether that be in the office or externally.
Microsoft Teams has become integral to the way we run our business giving us the flexibility to talk with customers and members of the team virtually thru video conferencing or chat.
Microprocessor, without it, we wouldn’t have affordable home computing, and so much more that has inspired generations of developers and engineers to transform their interest, creativity and ingenuity into a career.
Gaming Consoles, some say it’s a waste of time, but to others, it’s a great way to relax - unless you concede last minute goal in FIFA!
iPhone / iPad, as the day it launched it was a proper wow moment, and as its grown, its ability to connect, inform and open the world in the palm of your hand is both incredible and awesome.
Digital communication, as it allows people to stay in touch and see each other no matter where they are in the world. And Nintendo...
Mobile technology, the advances made over the last 20 years from the humble yet seemingly indestructible Nokia 3310, to the latest mobiles and tablets has, really changed the way we not only communicate but also consume media and generally navigate everyday life.
Another aspect of knockout that I find really enjoyable to use are computed properties, this allows UI elements to be changed on the fly, which really adds to the usability of the site.
YouTube, as in the last couple of years, YouTube has become the second most popular website in the world. The platform unites almost 2 billion users from across the world, uploading 500 hours of video content every minute.
This enormous platform is using machine-learning algorithms for recommending videos. It has a great and easy to use UI as well as a search engine that returns a huge number of related videos to multiple users every second.
The platform seems to be utilizing the best data retrieval techniques to display the results in a couple of milliseconds, very impressive.
